New Slaughter Your Current Season Blog Post
Staying safe in a single corner just because it currently pays the bills is the fastest way to lock yourself out of your true destiny.
Think about that for a second. So many entrepreneur-minded faith leaders plateau because they mistake current survival-mode predictability for ultimate purpose. They reach the end of their current electrical cord, feel the tension, and instead of unplugging to move to a new room, they stay right there—vacuuming the exact same circle over and over again.
In my own journey, back when I was in Bible college, I worked as a night custodian at a massive two-story children's school. Every single night, my assignment was to vacuum that entire building. The classrooms were huge. They were way too large for the vacuum cord to reach from a single electrical outlet.
I would plug the vacuum in, clean all the areas within my radius, and eventually, the cord would pull tight.
Now, if I had chosen to stay plugged into that one single outlet forever, I could have guaranteed that one little section would be perfectly clean. No one could say I wasn’t working hard. But the rest of the room would have accumulated filth, and the building would have failed its inspection. To finish the assignment, I had to stop, unplug from the comfort of my current power source, walk into the unfamiliar dark of the uncleaned room, and find the next outlet.
Sovereignty requires the courage to unplug. You cannot experience the power of the next dimension until you are willing to let go of the outlet of your current season and slaughter your comfort.
The Illusions of Busywork and the Fear of Looking Non-Productive
When you unplug the vacuum cleaner, the machine goes dead silent. The noise stops. The suction stops. For a few moments, as you are carrying that dead weight across the room to a new power source, you look completely non-productive.
This is exactly where most business owners panic.
We live in a modern business culture that worships the grind. We think that if we aren’t actively producing noise, making phone calls, or grinding out 60+ hour weeks, we are failing. But there is a massive difference between movement and progress.
When God calls you into a transitional season, He is asking you to endure the silence of the unplugged phase. You have to be okay with looking non-productive to the outside world while you migrate your assets, your identity, and your focus toward a bigger territory. If you are terrified of what people are going to think of you during your transition, you will permanently limit your capacity.
Moving from Provision to Dominion
Deuteronomy 8:18 says: “But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant.” Notice the language here. God does not just promise to give you provision—He gives you the ability to produce wealth so that His covenant can be established and His Kingdom can expand. Provision is wilderness bread; it’s manna that keeps you alive in a tight corner. Dominion is taking over the territory.
If you are holding onto an old business structure, a toxic client, or a comfortable job that is starving your true calling simply because you’re asking, "Where is the money going to come from next month?" you are living in a provision mindset.
True stewardship means auditing your foundation. Look at your current operation. Is the cord pulled tight? If it is, staying there isn't excellence—it’s fear wearing a mask of spirituality. It's time to slaughter this current season to make room for what's next.
